Crayon Resist Watercolor Project

Description:
For this project we started with learning about different watercolor techniques and Henri Matisse. We did the techniques: Flat wash, graded wash, crayon resist, and sgraffito. After practicing the techniques we started to create our project. We first drew the floor and walls. We then created the table, vase, and flowers. After this we traced everything with a black sharpie. We then used crayons and did designs where we wanted the paint to resist the crayon. Finally, we used our water color and painted the picture how we wanted.
Extension Activity:
For an extension activity I would have students do a creative writing about a landscape or place. I would then have students use different water color techniques and have them create their landscape or place on a paper.
