Dot Day
Activity:
For this activity we first listened to the book "The Dot" by Peter H Reynolds. After listening to the book we were shown how to make coffee filter sun catchers with watercolors. For mine I cut it into a heart since it was close to Valentine's day. I used oil pastels, crayons, and markers to do the small hearts and polka dots. After drawing my designs I used water and watercolor paint to smear the marker around and make the design spread out.

Extension:
For an extension activity I would have my class create their own "Dot". Students will create their own dot on paper and decorate it with colors, patterns, textures, and details to represent themselves. This will give students the opportunity to express themselves through different mediums and get to know more about their peers.
